Questions & answers

Clear answers before the next step.

Practical information about preparing a brief, using IP Theft chat and keeping the conversation useful. Ask in chat if your situation needs more context.

Do I need email to start?

No. Open chat on this website to ask a question or review a prepared case brief. Your name is optional. The existing email address remains available. A later platform reporting process may separately request contact information.

What belongs in the first message?

Identify the original work, the exact links you want to discuss and your relationship to the content. Add a concise description of what happened and the question you want answered. You can begin before every detail is available.

What if the original is private or unpublished?

Describe the original and how it can be identified. A public URL is useful when one exists, but it is not the only way to explain the source. Do not share account passwords or access codes.

Can I include several works or copies?

Yes. Pair each original with the suspected copies that relate to it. Keep different works separate and include one direct URL per location. This makes a multi-link discussion easier to understand.

Does the planner file a notice?

No. It creates preparation notes and a draft for discussion. Review in chat opens the chat composer; you decide when to send. Preparing or sending a brief here does not itself submit a copyright notice to any platform.

Are removals or response times guaranteed?

No. A platform or service makes its own decision, and review may require more information. Discuss the proposed scope and expectations before action. A prepared brief, a submitted request and confirmed removal are different stages.

I received a copyright notice. Where do I begin?

Keep the original wording, platform name, reference number and any deadline shown. Explain what you need to understand. Do not assume an appeal or counter-notice is appropriate without reviewing the relevant circumstances.

How do I return for a reply?

Use this website in the same browser and device and reopen chat. Access is kept in that browser. Clearing site storage or changing devices may lose access to the conversation, so keep your own copy of important references.

What should I avoid sharing?

Keep passwords, login codes, payment details and unrelated identity documents out of chat. Begin with public URLs and relevant context. Discuss an appropriate way to provide sensitive material before sending it.

Can I continue a closed conversation?

Yes. Sending a new message reopens the existing conversation for follow-up. Use the same browser to keep the earlier record available, and include any new links or reference numbers that relate to it.

The next step is a conversation

Separate the original, the location and the question.

Start with what you know. Use the case brief to organize it, or ask a question in chat.
